"For all the right reasons" 

Farm principal Liz Christensen has been breeding and showing purebred Arabian horses since 1990, over 25 years ago.  Previously with the Zeehan Arabian stud, Liz then established Zuhra Arabians in 2003.  "Zuhra" is an Arabic word meaning "beauty, brilliance" or "star".

Bloodlines mainly revolve around Hawley horses, Egyptian and Russian bloodlines, with mixes of Polish, Spanish and Crabbet also.  After many years of dreaming, the first Straight Egyptian (SE) mare was purchased in 2013 to begin a long-awaited quality SE program.

Our first Pointer dog "Breilla Shenannigens" (Shania) was obtained in 2000, and Liz bred her first Pointer litter in 2002.  Breeding under the prefix  "Zuhraan" including rare self-coloured Pointers.

We pride ourselves on being open and honest in all dealings, and take pride in our beautiful and loving animals!

Liz aims to breed horses and dogs that are beautiful to look at, functional, a joy to have around, and that have no reason not to be successful in any field - competition, breeding, and family friend.

Our dogs and horses are very much part of our family!

Who We Are

Liz and husband James have been together since 1992, married in 1997 and have three young sons - Chris (born 2004), Isaac (born 2006) and Marcus (born 2008).

Liz holds post-graduate qualifications in Chemistry and worked for many years at the Queensland Health Forensic & Scientific Services (QHFSS) laboratory until recent years.

James owns and is a director of a medical supply company OptiMed Pty. Ltd. in partnership with Sydney colleagues.

James is interested in politics, and with son Chris is currently enjoying competitive clay pidgeon shooting, after a stint in go-kart racing!  Sons Chris & Isaac enjoy playing club soccer for Ipswich Knights.
